Migas celebrates their 10th anniversary
As is now tradition, Migas will celebrate their anniversary with a blowout double-header party this weekend, except this one promises to be more raucous than ever given that it's their big 1-0. Since making the move from their Sanlitun terrace at the end of 2017, CBD's Migas Mercado has slowly become a worthy successor to the original's parties, brunches, and cocktails. Expect old and new faces to converge on the terrace this Friday from 9pm onwards for the free two-day dreamland-themed bash, including DJ sets from DJ Juhstynn (returning from south China to one of his old stomping grounds for this very occasion), DJ Aida, and DJ VLTRA_U, continuing on Saturday with DJs Ben Huang and Suiki Lor. Then on Sunday, 11.30am-4pm, the weekend winds down with a special one-off brunch, seeing the venue transformed into a Barcelona street market courtesy of various Beijing food and drink vendors – peruse the entire line-up here.
Jing-A invites you to see their new CBD venue this Friday
Drinkers in Beijing's Central Business District will be happy to hear that they'll soon have a new spot to take back pints after work: Jing-A's new and rather large Kerry Center-based venue. While the official opening date has yet to be announced ("soon..."), the team invites you to break in the sidewalk and familiarise yourself with the outside decor courtesy of a Keg Egg happy hour session this Friday, 5-7pm. For the occasion, they'll have free pours on Mandarin Wheat (4.8 percent ABV) and Flying Fist IPA (6.8 percent ABV). Go say hi and see what they have in store for the real deal. More info here.
Think while you drink with The Hutong
Then on Saturday, test yourself with The Hutong's Think 'n' Drink event. Part pub quiz, part cocktail class, part excuse to get day drunk, from 2.30pm onwards attendees will be put through their paces on all of the above courtesy of the duo behind Earthen Roots Ginger Beer, one of the newest additions to Beijing's craft beverage scene. Tickets are RMB 350 for non-members or RMB 300 for members. Read more here.
Also on Saturday, 4-8pm, Americans looking to vote from China may want to join Vote From Abroad at Boxing Cat Brewery for an RMB 228 all-you-can-eat-and-drink barbecue and beer party. The event will be accompanied by a viewing of action superhero flick Black Panther at 6.30pm in honor of Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular character and who died last week after a year's long struggle with cancer. There's no need to register for the event, just show up.
New beer deals at Crafters
Crafters Brewing is ushering in the fine weather with a new deal on three of their beers, including two of their classics and one new brew, the tropical and gluten-free India Session Ale called Sweet Dreams & Time Machines: for RMB 588 you can now get 12 cans of Tiny Gangsta APA, 12 cans of Bubble in the Head IPA, and 12 cans of Sweet Dreams & Time Machines, as well as a limited edition teardrop glass. Tap 'Read more' below to find the Taobao link.
Extended happy hour at Side Street
Finally, on Sunday, ease yourself back into the work week with Side Street's newly extended happy hour featuring all house mixes buy-one-get-one and draft beers at RMB 10 off. What's more, the bar now features a newly revamped cocktail menu with signature drinks like the Presidente (red vermouth and cointreau with santisima three-year rum) and the strawberry fizz (strawberry puree, strawberry gin, tonic, and lemon juice). The menu also touts a new series of sours, including the Santisima rum sour, Rittenhouse Rye sour, Old Virginia Bourbon sour, among others. Try them all on any given Friday, when they're each buy-one-get-one from 7pm. Cheers!
